Worked today chaining logs to an old beater car and dragging them out of the woods to a burn pile. Big bonfire. Cole took Dylan and I out to some ancient aboriginal cave paintings. Hands and kangaroos, it was awsome. Coffee with Nora the witch and Max, the mathmatician cattle rancher. Max hilariously tried to help show Cole how to calculate the volume of a water tank, but really just confused matters worse.
Came home, had a big roast chicken for dinner with Ken, a local guitar player who I talked politics and music with.
Then a trip to the pub for the weekly musical jam. I played rattle and tamburine, Cole on didgeridoo, dylan on an improvised pot and pan drum kit, Charolette and Ken played guitar and sang while the drunken MC Hummer tried to do backup. The locals were all characters to say the least.
'Pesty' a local exterminator, looked like a short heavy version of my uncle and talked American politics, proud of his time in the Aus navy and his Yank friends. He also took a negative view of US border gaurd and policies about mexicans.
Jamie and Davey laughed hard, drank harder, and accompanied Ken's singing in all the old American rock tunes. Most of what was played was CCR, and Beatles along with some Lynard Skynard, Johnny Cash, Sublime, Janis Joplin, and Chuck Berry. A few Austraian songs, which got the whole pub singing, were sprinkled in between.
